Minimalist Underground: Capturing Munich’s Hidden Architectural Beauty

Munich’s underground stations are more than just transit hubs—they are architectural masterpieces. As part of my long-term photography project, The Beauty of Munich Underground Station Architecture, I set out once again to capture the unique design elements beneath the city streets.
This time, I focused on Marienplatz, the bustling heart of Munich’s public transport system, where thousands of commuters pass through daily. Capturing a clean, minimalist shot without movement was a challenge. But fortune was on my side—a broken elevator provided the perfect opportunity to position myself at an ideal vantage point. The result? A carefully framed composition that highlights the station’s geometric forms, vibrant contrasts, and striking architectural aesthetics.
Through this image, I aim to showcase the minimalist elegance hidden in everyday urban spaces, turning functional design into a work of art.
