Lighthouse Fluegge – Isle of Fehmarn
Day 133 of my 365 Photo Challenge.
The image features the Lighthouse „Fluegge“, located in the southwest of the island Fehmarn.
I photographed the Lighthouse during a sudden incoming rain shower, from a position approx 1,5km away from it.
The Lighthouse was opened in 1872.
After 44 years it was replaced in 1975 by a new tower. The tower was clad with red and white fibre cement panels due to damage to the outer masonry.
It has an octagonal shape and was built with yellow bricks. Its height is 37,5 meters, and it is equipped with a red lantern.
In the years 2009 to 2011, it was completely renovated. Since 2003 the Lighthouse has been a protected monument.
