Leni – the Princess

Another image of my little Maine Coon lady “Leni”.
In this image, I captured her, relaxing in her wigwam and enjoying the sun. Sometimes I ask my self whether she is fully aware that she is the superstar of the moment?
Of course, it is better for me, allowing for photos of such kind!

I hope you enjoy it!

What are you staring at?

Day 90 of my 365 Photo Challenge.

Today I got my Maine Coon lady “Leni” in front of the lens again.

I caught her by chance on one of her walks on our roof.

She seemed to be enjoying the setting sun when she caught me taking pictures of her. The look she paid tribute to me suggested a lack of understanding on her part.

But she is also a beauty and always worth a photo!

What do you think?

Tomcat Charlie

Day 23 of my 365 Photo Challenge.

Due to the lousy weather (finally, it is raining!), I had to divert to an indoor motif. Luckily, I have two Maine Coons at home, who sometimes are willing to pose for me. On that day, I caught my Tomcat Charlie in the perfect position.

The backlight from the window provided a marvellous rim light separating him from the dark background. The only thing I had to do was to expose for the shadow, ensuring no overblow in the highlights. And ready was the perfect portrait of him!

Just for your info, I used my D850 and again my Nikkor 50mm F1.4.

Chill the Base!

Day 17 of my 365 Photo Challenge

Today my Maine Coon tomcat Charlie had to step in again as a model. It was pure luck that he snuggled up against the pillow with the inscription “Chill your base”.

Because of the very bright window light, it was not easy to find the right exposure for my black cat.

I used spot metring and paid attention to the details in the shadows. As you can see, it worked!

Then have fun while watching.

Leni – The Maine Coon Lady

Day 13 of my 365 Photo Challenge.

After being locked down by the corona crisis and forced to work in Homeoffice, photo opportunities aren’t around you all the time.

Luckily, I have two very cute Maine-Coons which keeping my busy over the day and of course, providing lots of moments which I can capture with my camera.

This time, it was Leni, posing so cute on the big sofa.
I used again my Nikkor 50 mm 1.4 to blur the background.

Enjoy the photo!

Home Office!

Day 5 of my 365 Photo Challenge.

Already yesterday, I started to think about what I could photograph on day 5. Since my circle of action is limited by the Corona restrictions, the choice for unusual photo motives is not too big.

When I was thinking about it intensively during my daily work in my home office, I got a visit from my Main Coon tomcat “Charlie”, who put his head on my arm and fell asleep immediately.

Luckily I had my mobile phone at hand to capture this moment.

Here a quote comes to my mind, which says:

“The best camera is the one you have at hand!”

The picture also describes the current situation in which many of us are likely to find ourselves, due to the coronavirus — the arrangement between the home office and our private life.

Since 2 years, I am considering to launch a 365 Day Challenge, but did not convince myself to start it.

Now, due to the Corona Crisis, I am ready for it! As the first motif, I took my Maine Coon Lady “Leni”.

After being out on the Roof-Terrace the whole day, she took her afternoon nap, making it very easy for me to portrait her beauty because she did not move at all.

From time to time, she opened her eyes to check what I was doing in front of her. That was the moment I took the photo of her, capturing her beautiful eyes!

For the photo, I used the following settings:
F4.0, 1/80 sec, ISO 800, Focal Length 62mm, Nikon D850, Nikkor 24-70mm F2.8
